Liverpool

Capital of the county of Merseyside, in the North West of England, Liverpool rests on the east side of the estuary of the River Mersey, 350 kilometers from the capital. It has more than 466,000 inhabitants, which increases to 816,000 if we take into account the entire Metropolitan Area to which it belongs.

During the 18th century, it was an important port city with access to the Irish Sea, and like Bristol, it developed triangular trade across the Atlantic to Africa and the West Indies granting it great economic prosperity. Today, it is the most important port in the country after London.

The city's most prominent historic buildings are the 1967 Metropolitan Cathedral, which has a unique design with a circular roof topped by a tower with several pinnacles, and Liverpool Cathedral, built with red sandstone and completed in 1978. Crafted in a modern Gothic style, from the top of Liverpool Cathedral, you can enjoy impressive views of the city. Both cathedrals are linked by Hope Street. On the other hand, St Luke's Church is partially ruined but maintains its beautiful facade surrounded by a charming garden.
