What to see in Faroe Islands
Klaksvík
Tourist attractions Klaksvík
Located on the shores of the bay, on the island of Borðoy, this small town is the second largest of the Faroe Islands. One of its main attractions are the vestiges of the Viking villages, today converted into an important archaeological centre. Due to its location, to which the large ships had easy access, the port of Klaksvik is one of the most important of the archipelago, thus promoting its economic and cultural development. Its most famous monument is Christianskirjan, a 12th century church that is inspired by the traditional architecture of the Faroes. You can also visit the Norðøyar museum, where there is a large exhibition of old photographs that explain the origins of the island; or opt for an excursion to Viðarlundin úti í Grøv, a forest with remains of Viking houses where several streams and a waterfall can be found.
