    Stavanger

    Tourist attractions Stavanger

The oil capital of Norway, for which reason the Norwegian Petroleum Museum is one of the city's main attractions. The canning industry also held a lot of weight for some years, although it has now declined. Nevertheless, the town has a museum dedicated to this economic activity which sustained it for so long which also explains fishing and canning methods of sardines and salmon. Thanks to the amount of street art in many of its streets, and the annual Nu Art festival, Stavanger is also known as being one of the most artistic cities in Norway. The most popular excursion from here is towards Preikestolen, better known as Pulpit Rock: an enormous rock suspended above Lysefjord, the fjord of light, from where there are incredible views across the whole landscape. There are also a range of options to cross the fjords by boat.
