Itinerary

Embark on a cruise of the Danube and discover Central Europe’s capitals: all with full board included! Begin your adventure in Vienna before heading into the Wachau valley, losing yourself in the sites of Dürnstein, Melk, and Linz. Double back towards Bratislava & Budapest, then end your trip by dining with the ship’s captain.

1st Day: UK/Ireland - Vienna

Excited to take a journey through the heart of Central Europe? Grab your suitcase and arrive* at your chosen airport in the UK/Ireland ready for a flight to Vienna, Austria. Depending on what time you land, you may** have several hours at your disposal to explore the city before heading to our ship.

Begin boarding at Nussdorf Pier at 16:00. Get settled in your cabin and enjoy a welcome cocktail and your first dinner on board. The cruise includes full board, so three meals per day are served on the ship from this point onwards. Overnight on board.

*If either your outbound or inbound flights depart in the early hours (before 4:00 a.m.) you must arrive at the airport the night before the indicated departure day.

**A private transfer from the airport to the departure port of the cruise can be added in the next step of the booking process.

2nd Day: Vienna

Full board included. After breakfast, enjoy the full day to explore Vienna independently. If you’d prefer to be accompanied by an experienced guide, be sure to reserve our optional panoramic tour of Vienna* in advance.

Discover the Austrian capital’s best-known buildings, including the world-famous Opera House, the Parliament Building, the Burgtheater, and of course the spectacular Hofburg Imperial Palace.

The afternoon will also allow you free time to explore the city. If you reserved the excursion package, head over to your tour of the Schonbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburgs. Return to the ship for dinner and overnight on board. Set sail for the Wachau valley!

3rd Day: Dürnstein - Melk

Full board included. Wake up in the town of Dürnstein, known as the heart of the Wachau valley. Take time in the morning to explore the historic town centre, crossing through the mediaeval gates to reach Prange Square. Here, we can see a stone castle where Richard the Lionheart was famously imprisoned.

Re-embark in the afternoon to continue exploring the wonderful Wachau valley. Make a second stop of the day in Melk, a small city where you have the option to visit a Benedictine abbey* located atop a giant cliff. This privileged location offers spectacular views of the Danube and the whole valley below. Return to the ship for dinner and overnight on board.

4th Day: Melk - Linz

Full board included. Find yourself in Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. Appreciate the exceptional architectural heritage of the 19th century in Austria’s third-largest city.

You have the day to spend here at your leisure, learning about the history of this magnificent city on the Danube. After lunch, set off once again, heading back towards Bratislava, Slovakia. Dinner and overnight on board.

5th Day: Linz - Bratislava

Full board included. Arrive in Bratislava as you first awaken, ready to discover this enchanting new city. Enjoy breakfast and then set off to discover the city, either independently or as part of our optional excursions package.*

The guided tour will pass by Saint Martin’s Cathedral, Michael’s Gate, the old Town Hall, and the impressive mediaeval fortifications. In the afternoon, say goodbye to Bratislava as we make our way towards Budapest, Hungary. Dinner and overnight on board.

6th Day: Bratislava - Budapest

Full board included. Have breakfast on board and pull into Budapest. The Hungarian capital is divided by the Danube in two parts: traditional ‘Buda’ and cosmopolitan ‘Pest’.

If you’ve reserved the excursions package,* head off on your guided tour of the city. Explore Budapest’s grand boulevards with expert guidance, seeing iconic monuments like the Hungarian Parliament, the Opera House, Heroes’ Square, the market, the Széchenyi Chain Bridge, and the Fishermens’ Bastion (with the best views in the city!).

7th Day: Budapest - Esztergom

Full board included. Make your final stop in Esztergom, the old capital of the Kingdom of Hungary, where the first Hungarian King Stephen I was crowned. Make sure to see the Esztergom Basilica, which is the largest in Hungary, and also contains an impressive organ inside.

Head back aboard for lunch, and start a course towards Vienna. Enjoy the comforts of the ship before closing this journey at a special dinner with the ship’s captain. Night on board.

8th Day: Esztergom - Vienna - UK/Ireland

Breakfast on board.* Arrive back in Vienna in the morning and disembark the ship. Self-transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK/Ireland. If you prefer, you can also book your final transfer with us.**
