    Addo National Park

    Tourist attractions Addo National Park

Located 40 km from the coastal city of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape province, this is the third largest national park in South Africa, covering an area of 180,000 hectares that stretches from the Zuurberg Mountains to the coast.

Here, a wide range of biodiversity, landscapes, fauna, and flora are preserved. Above all, it is renowned for its role as an elephant sanctuary. When it was established in 1931, only 11 elephants remained, but today it is home to over 600 individuals that can thrive in their natural habitat.

The park also contributes to the preservation of the "Big 7," as sightings of large great white sharks and southern right whales have been observed along its coastal sections.
