What to see in New Zealand
Mount Cook
Tourist attractions Mount Cook
The highest mountain in the country, at no less than 3.754 metres above sea level. In the New Zealand Alps, the summit of Mount Cook is quite a tourist attraction, above all, having been chosen as a location for the film: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The mountain is also the heart of the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, recognised for its landscape as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The park also preserves glaciers, amongst them the Tasman and some 20 others which are the largest in the country, surpassing heights of 3,000 metres above sea level. The Tasman Glacier is the largest in New Zealand, yet another attraction for the park.
