Itinerary

Begin in Zurich, Switzerland's biggest city and an excellent base to explore the country. Head to the mountains, first visiting the ski-mecca of St. Moritz. Take the famous Glacier Express to Zermatt, admiring panoramic views of the Alps. Continue towards lakeside Lausanne, then enjoy walking tours in quaint Gruyères and Bern. Spend your final day in Interlaken before returning home.

1st Day: Canada - Night on board

Ready to discover the spectacular cities and landscapes of Switzerland? Arrive at your departure airport, ready to catch a flight to Zurich*. Night on board.

*If either your outbound or inbound flights depart in the early hours (before 4:00 a.m.) you must arrive at the airport the night before the indicated departure day.

2nd Day: Zurich

Touch down in Zurich, famous for being the global center of finance on the north shore of a beautiful lake with the same name. Self-transfer to your hotel in the city center: we suggest taking the airport train, which drops you off walking distance*. The rest of the day is free to enjoy at your leisure. Why not walk around the historic old town and enjoy a warm beverage in one of the many cafes or enjoy an international array of gastronomic offerings from restaurants across the city. Overnight stay in Zurich.

*You will have the option to add a transfer from the airport to your hotel in the next step of the booking process.

Breakfast at the hotel. Say goodbye to St. Moritz as you transfer to the train station, this time towards Zermatt. But this is no ordinary journey: you’ll be traveling on the Glacier Express! This iconic train crosses some of Switzerland’s most beautiful scenery, offering privileged views of the rugged mountains.

Located at the foot of the iconic Matterhorn peak, Zermatt has gained fame as a center of mountaineering and skiing. Indeed, the Matterhorn is a symbol of Switzerland itself. Once you notice it, you’ll start seeing references all over the country! Zermatt prizes their views so much that combustion-engine vehicles are completely banned to prevent any air pollution from obstructing the Matterhorn. Arrive and check in at the hotel for the evening. Overnight in Zermatt.

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a free morning in Zermatt to explore the town on foot or admire views of the Matterhorn.

Later, your tour of Switzerland continues with a transfer to the train station, then a quick 12-minute jaunt to the town of Täsch. As this is the nearest town accessible to combustion engines, a private coach will pick you up here for the under-three-hour journey to Lausanne. Located on Lac Léman, Lausanne has long been an idyllic hideout for the ultra-wealthy and even exiled royals. Notice that the local language has changed–unlike your previous stops, the majority here speak French, not Swiss German! Transfer to the hotel to relax for the evening. Overnight in Lausanne.

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart by coach for Gruyères, an alpine town best-known for its castle and its eponymous cheese. Enjoy a walking tour of the city center, admiring the charming streets and majestic architecture. Break for an independent lunch–why not try a famous Swiss fondue, complete with Gruyère cheese? After lunch on your own, get back on the coach and depart for Bern. Though not officially Switzerland’s capital, Bern is home to the federal government. Enjoy another walking tour through the medieval core of the city, an official UNESCO World Heritage site. After your tour, return to Lausanne for a free evening. Overnight in Lausanne.
