1st Day: Canada - Guatemala

Arrive at your Canadian departure airport, ready for a flight to Guatemala.* Arrive in Guatemala and transfer to Antigua Guatemala, a beautifully preserved city with an abundance of colorful colonial architecture nestled in the lush central highlands. Transfer to the hotel and overnight stay in Antigua Guatemala.

* If either your outbound or inbound flights depart in the early hours (before 4:00 a.m.) you must arrive at the airport the night before the indicated departure day.

2nd Day: Antigua Guatemala

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, enjoy a half-day tour of Antigua, considered one of the most beautiful colonial cities in America. During the colonial period, it was the capital of the Kingdom of Guatemala, which included the provinces of southern Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. After an earthquake in 1773, the city was abandoned, and the population moved to what is now Guatemala City. Visit La Merced Church, Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. Afterwards, enjoy free time to enjoy a little shopping before returning to the hotel. Overnight stay in Antigua.

3rd Day: Antigua Guatemala

Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day exploring at your leisure. Go shopping for local artisan crafts, people-watch from one of the old town's charming cafe terraces or pay a visit to the chocolate museum to indulge your sweet tooth! Alternatively, why not head out of the city to hike one of the many nearby volcanoes or the popular Corazón de Agua trail, for fabulous views across the surrounding landscapes. Overnight stay in Antigua.

4th Day: Antigua Guatemala - Chichicastenango - Lake Atitlán

Breakfast at the hotel. Seize the day with an early morning visit to Chichicastenango Market, located in the Central Guatemalan Highlands. Famed for its incredible handicrafts, discover a rich array of local crafts as your browse this world-famous market. Visit the local Church of Santo Tomas, before transferring to Lake Atitlan, surrounded by three volcanoes: Atitlán, Tolimán and San Pedro. Its crystal clear waters and dramatic scenery make it one of the most beautiful destinations on earth. Enjoy a panoramic tour of Panajachel, a lakeside town known for its colonial old town, Mayan heritage and charming market stalls. Transfer to the hotel and overnight stay at Lake Atitlan.

5th Day: Panajachel

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a leisurely day in Panajachel to explore the wonders of Lake Atitlan. Why not take a boat trip to discover the numerous Mayan villages dotted around the lake's border or go kayaking for unobstructed views of the volcanic landscape? Other experiences to enjoy whilst staying in Panajachel include indulging in a traditional Mayan sauna, known as a 'Temescal', or shopping in the local markets. Overnight stay in Panajachel.

6th Day: Panajachel - Guatemala City

Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the morning at your leisure, taking in the spectacular views of Lake Atitlan for the final time. In the afternoon, transfer back to Guatemala City and get settled at the hotel. Enjoy your final evening in Guatemala exploring the city's street food scene or strolling through the capital's atmospheric plazas. Overnight stay in Guatemala City. 

7th Day: Guatemala City - San José

Breakfast at the hotel. Say goodbye to Guatemala today as your transfer to the airport, ready to catch your flight to San José. Touch down in the vibrant Costa Rican capital and transfer to your hotel. Once settled, the remainder of the day is free to explore the city's atmospheric plazas and characterful colonial-era architecture. Overnight stay in San José. 

8th Day: San José - Tortuguero

Transfer to Tortuguero with a stop along the way for breakfast. Pass through the exuberant Braulio Carrillo National Park before finally arriving in Tortuguero and your hotel in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a fascinating tour of Tortuguero, including the Turtle Conservation Museum and the lively village. Enjoy a boat ride through the leafy canals back to the hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring at your leisure. Dinner and overnight stay in Tortuguero.

9th Day: Tortuguero

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, enjoy a relaxing boat trip along the canals of Tortuguero, admiring the abundant flora and fauna. Return to the hotel for lunch. The afternoon is free at your leisure to explore further or simply relax at the hotel. In the evening, we recommend taking the opportunity to see the turtles spawning on the beach (July - September). Dinner and overnight stay in Tortuguero.

Please note: Entrance to Tortuguero National Park is not included. Approximately $15 per person, to be paid at the destination. 

10th Day: Tortuguero - Guapiles - Arenal

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, set off for the charming city of Guapiles, arriving in time for lunch. Afterwards, continue to La Fortuna, in the shadow of the magnificent Arenal Volcano, one of the most important and spectacular natural sights in Costa Rica! Arrive at the hotel and spend the rest of the afternoon exploring at your leisure. Overnight stay in Arenal. 

11th Day: Arenal

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a day to explore the area surrounding La Fortuna and Arenal at your leisure. Get out and about to embrace the natural environment, perhaps exploring the hanging bridges in the rainforest or hiking around the spectacular Arenal Volcano. La Fortuna is a fantastic base for all kinds of outdoor adventures, and the rich biodiversity of the surrounding rainforests is sure to leave you enchanted! Overnight stay in Arenal.

12th Day: Arenal

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful natural environment. We recommend the optional horseback ride excursion.* Overnight stay in Arenal.

Optional Half-Day Horseback Ride Excursion: Set off on a scenic horseback ride to appreciate the beauty of nature and the sounds, colour and energy of the rainforest. Ascend to a viewpoint where you will have an impressive view of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. Also, enjoy a brief walking tour to one of the park's suspension bridges. Lunch included.

13th Day: Arenal - San José - Canada

Breakfast at the hotel. Sadly, it's time to bring your journey through Central America to an end. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport to board your flight back to Canada.* Arrive in Canada and end your trip.

* If your return flight departs in the evening, your arrival in Canada will be the following day and the total duration of your trip will be 14 days.
