What to see in Uganda
Bwindi National Park
Tourist attractions Bwindi National Park
Officially known as the National Park of the Impenetrable Forest of Bwindi, this nature reserve lives up to its name thanks to its dense vegetation and climbing plants that make it impossible to travel through much of the land. The park is located next to the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and, thanks to its variety of flora, is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO to help conserve the country's plant diversity.
Its main tourist attraction, however, is the extensive community of mountain gorillas of which there are more than 300 individuals. Among the more than 120 species of mammals, colobus monkeys and chimpanzees are also very popular. It is also an important reserve for mountain butterflies, where different types have been found, as well as a large number of birds, reptiles and amphibians. Its natural value is incalculable, so visits to the Bwindi National Park are restricted to a closed number of visitors per day.
