Arrive at your US departure airport, ready for a flight to Quito. Arrive in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, a city famed for its high vantage point in the Andean mountains and its ancient Incan significance. Transfer to your hotel and overnight stay in Quito.
If either your outbound or inbound flights depart in the early hours (before 4:00 a.m.) you must arrive at the airport the night before the indicated departure day.
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, meet a local guide who will take you on a fascinating tour of some most emblematic sights of Quito. Today, explore the Historic Center known for its well-preserved colonial architecture, rich with 16th and 17th century churches and other structures that blend European, Moorish and indigenous styles, declared a World Heritage Site for its great beauty. The next stop is the city's traditional market, full of stalls brimming with local delicacies, and a beautiful and colorful array of tropical fruits grown locally that you will get to try. Spend the afternoon at your leisure visiting some of the coolest neighborhoods such as La Floresta or La Carolina. Overnight stay in Quito.
Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day in Quito at your leisure, exploring the city or simply taking some time to enjoy the beautiful climate and natural environment. We recommend enjoying our excursion to Otavalo*, a beautiful town in the Andean highlands surrounded by volcanoes. Overnight stay in Quito.
*Optional Otavalo Tour: On this exciting full-day tour to towns in the Andean highlands, you’ll discover some of the most exquisite local gastronomy and traditional way of life. Start off your experience by tasting the interesting Cherimoya fruits in Guayllabamba, a small agricultural town. Next, carry on to try the local biscuits made by the community in Cayambe, located in the Pichancha Province it is the third-highest mountain in Ecuador! You will then be guided around the indigenous markets in Otavalo, Peguche and Cotacachi where you will get to know the story of the native people and try some of the fruits grown at high altitude. A unique foodie experience!
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, leave Quito behind and head to Baños, home to mineral hot springs and waterfalls, nestled within a verdant natural environment. Situated at the base of an active volcano, this beautiful town is renowned for being the gateway to the Amazon Basin and its mineral-rich hot springs. On route, pass through The Avenue of the Volcanoes, named in the early 1800s by famous explorer Humboldt, is a road that winds its way between the Andean foothills dotted with volcanoes (many of which are still active!). Arrive in Baños and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy the remainder of the day exploring this unique city, and grab a bite to eat in one of the many restaurants, with an international food offering. Overnight stay in Baños.
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning continue with your adventure leaving Baños behind as you set off into the Ecuadorian highlands. Pass by the renowned Pailon del Diablo Waterfall, a spectacular natural wonder which lies on the edge of the cloud forest, and venture into the Amazon jungle headed for Tena. Continue through verdant landscapes towards the lodge where you will spend the next few days, in the heart of the jungle. Upon arrival you will have to honor to take part in a chocolate ceremony, with the local community. This is a truly unique experience. Really get to know this key ingredient in Ecuadorian culture and uncover the magical properties of cacao, from its indigenous roots. Overnight in Tena.
Today, begin your your day connecting with the energy of the Ecuadorian Amazon in a Jungle Yoga class, through movement, breath and meditation. Awaken your senses, your mind and your body as you connect and become at one with nature during this beautiful flow. After breakfast, explore and discover the flora and fauna of the protected primary forest on a jungle walk through the Amazon with your native guide. Learn about the wildlife and incredible ecosystems of this spectacular rainforst from a true local. In the afternoon take part in an incredible experience where you will connect with the Amazonian Kichwa community. They will teach you about artisanal gold panning and its importance, the use of cassava, a key ingredient in the indigenous culture and the native medicinal plants and how they live from nature. Overnight stay in Tena.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, enjoy the day at your leisure. Relish the opportunity to explore the the Ecuadorian jungle, immerse yourself in its sounds and its wondrous sights. In the evening, you have the unique opportunity enjoy the farewell dinner (included) which is an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience. Take part in the local indigenous community's Amazon dance, experiencing their ancient traditions and stories of their ancestors. Overnight stay in Tena.
Breakfast at the hotel. Sadly, it's time to say goodbye to the Amazon jungle. On the way back to Quito, enjoy a refreshing bath in the geothermal waters of the Papallacta Hot Springs. They sit at the base of lush mountains high in the Andes and the warm water is fed from the nearby Antisana Volcano. An exquisit way to bid farewell to this incredible country and reminisce over the last few days and the experiences had. Arrive in Quito and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Quito.
Breakfast at the hotel. It's time to bring your adventure through Ecuador and the enchanting Amazon jungle to an end. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for a flight back to the US. Night on board.
