Built on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, the port city of Koper was once a small island that over time eventually became a peninsula. Due to its proximity to Trieste and its strategic location facing the sea, this Slovenian city has a rich culture inherited from past conquests. Today, its old quarter is characterized by medieval style architecture and almost all the streets run around the Tito Square, the centre point of the city. Some of the most unmissable emblematic buildings in the city are the Praetorian Palace, where exhibitions and cultural events are organized; the Armory, the Assumption Cathedral and the Belgramoni-Tacco Palace, which houses great works of art.
