Arrive in Cuzco, the former Inca capital, and transfer to the Sacred Valley, on the way you can make a stop at Awanakancha to take some pictures (does not include a guide). An exciting day at Machu Picchu awaits you this morning as you set off for the train station to board the Voyager or Expedition Train to Aguas Calientes,* admiring the landscape along the way. Arrive and transfer to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu**, declared as one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World and the absolute highlight of a trip to Peru. Walk among the trees and look for the giant tortoises that can be found near the small lagoons. Also visit the lava tubes, which form when the surface of a lava stream solidifies but the interior remains liquid and flows like a river. Continue your transfer to your hotel in Santa Cruz.
