Best time to visit the United Arab Emirates

The best time to travel to the United Arab Emirates is definitely not during summer as the thermometer at this time of year can reach 40ºC. In addition, due to its geographical position and climate, humidity is very high so the heat can be quite exhausting.

When to travel to the United Arab Emirates

To know when to travel to the United Arab Emirates, you need to bear in mind that we are facing an arid, subtropical climate.  This means that the weather is hot and very humid in the coastal area and dry and very hot inland. From May to October, the temperatures are very high, reaching in excess of 48ºC.

During winter, the temperature stays around 21ºC with January and March being the coldest months. Another fact to bear in mind is that, at the beginning of summer, the country receives the desert winds that come from the northwest and bring a lot of sand with them.

We could conclude that the best time to travel to the United Arab Emirates is between November and April. During these months, the temperatures are milder, so you can enjoy sightseeing more comfortably.

In terms of the tourist season, travellers tend to prefer visiting between November and March, so these months coincide with the high season. Between April and May, and also in the month of October, can be considered the mid-season, so it is a good time to travel and find cheaper prices. Finally, the low season, with hardly any tourists, is between June and September.

So, let’s look at when to travel to the United Arab Emirates and visit the different regions.

When to travel to Dubai

The best time to travel to the United Arab Emirates and visit Dubai is between December and March if you want to avoid the high summer temperatures. Bear in mind that the humid and hot climate can raise the thermometer to above 50ºC in summer.

If you want to avoid the sandstorms, don’t visit Dubai between March and April, when the winds are strongest. Finally, if you are travelling to Dubai between January and February, as well as having good weather, you will also be able to take part in Dubai Shopping Festival in the city's largest shopping centre!

Places like Burj Al Arab, the only 7-star hotel on earth, the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, or the most luxurious and largest artificial island in the world, Palm Jumeirah, are best visited between December and March if you want to enjoy all of the splendour of these luxury attractions.

When to travel to Abu Dhabi

The best time to travel to the United Arab Emirates and visit Abu Dhabi is from February to March or between November and December. From May, the temperatures start to rise until they reach an average of 41ºC in July and August.

All of the buildings in Abu Dhabi, as in Dubai, have air conditioning, so the 50ºC it reaches in summer is quite bearable if you don't mind spending time indoors.

In Abu Dhabi, you can visit the famous Sheikh Zayed Mosque, one of the main tourist attractions of the city, or the extremely luxurious and exclusive Emirates Palace, which is best visited in cooler weather if you want to enjoy the wonderful gardens and admire the incredible architectural work of these two buildings.

      When to travel to Sharjah

If you don’t know when to travel to the United Arab Emirates to visit Sharjah, we can clarify that the best time is between November and March, as with the rest of this country's cities. The months between May and October have an average temperature of 35ºC and they can reach 50ºC on the hottest days.

At the end of winter, there are sandstorms so it's best to avoid the months of April and May. Therefore, to be able to visit Al Noor Mosque, Al Majaz Park, King Faisal Mosque or the city's excellent museums, it’s best to do so in the cooler winter months.

When to travel to Al Ain

To discover the best time to travel to the United Arab Emirates and visit the Garden City of Al Ain, you should know that here the summers are long and very dry, whereas the winters are short and dry. The average temperature all year round is between 12ºC and 44ºC.

The best time to visit this oasis is in October and November when the temperatures are more pleasant, with average temperatures of 24ºC. From November to March would also be a good time, when the thermometer ranges between 18ºC and 27ºC.
