Get ready to start your adventure! Head to the airport at the indicated time to board your flight* to Japan. Overnight on board.

*If either your outbound or inbound flights depart in the early hours (before 4:00 a.m.) you must arrive at the airport the night before the indicated departure day.

Arrival at Tokyo Airport where you will be welcomed by an English-speaking representative holding an EXOTICCA signboard. They will provide a physical copy of your travel documents, offer useful information, and address any last minute questions you may have before providing clear directions to your vehicle or public transportation. **Clarification on Important Notes.

Then, transfer on your own* to the hotel. If you do not include a private transfer service, we recommend that you use Japan’s public transportation, which is one of the best in the world: reliable, clean, and extremely punctual. Today you have free time during the morning to further explore Tokyo at your own pace. Consider visiting the serene Meiji Shrine, nestled in a tranquil forested area near Harajuku, or take a walk through the stylish streets of Omotesando for architecture and boutique shopping.

Afterwards, enjoy a guided tour of Shibuya to experience the essence of Tokyo through one of its most iconic neighborhoods. Begin at Shibuya Station with “The Myth of Tomorrow,” a powerful mural by Taro Okamoto. Feel the energy at Shibuya Crossing, the busiest pedestrian intersection in the world. Stroll through Nonbei Yokocho (Drunkard’s Alley) to get a glimpse of local life and post-war history. Take a break in Miyashita Park, a multi-level urban oasis, and soak in the youthful vibe of Center Gai. Explore the historic streets of Maruyama-cho, now a hotspot for nightlife. End the tour at the famous Hachiko Statue, a beloved symbol of loyalty. Overnight stay in Tokyo.

For an added adventure, we recommend you to join our optional Mount Fuji & Lake Kawaguchi tour.* This excursion offers stunning views of Japan’s iconic peak and the serene beauty of Lake Kawaguchi, making for an unforgettable experience. Overnight stay in Tokyo.

*Optional Mount Fuji & Lake Kawaguchi tour: set off on a full-day tour to explore Mount Fuji, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy panoramic views from the 5th Station, take in the scenic beauty of Lake Kawaguchi and Oishi Park, learn about local traditions at Arakurayama Sengen Shrine, and visit the five-story Chureito Pagoda. If road conditions or unforeseen circumstances restrict the ascent to the 5th station, you will instead travel the highest elevation possible considering the circumstances.

Board the bullet train (Shinkansen) to Kyoto*, Japan’s ancient capital. The trip takes only around 2 hours and 15 minutes, and the train can reach speeds of 300 km/h! Enjoy the rest of the day exploring Kyoto at your own pace. Wander through serene streets, visit hidden temples, or unwind at a local onsen.

Kyoto was Japan’s capital for over a thousand years and is one of the best-preserved cities in the country. It’s a vibrant blend of modern life and traditional culture, surrounded by the mountains of Western Honshu and that offers a wide variety of restaurants, and is easy to navigate. Overnight stay in Kyoto.

In the evening, take part in a guided walking tour of Gion, Kyoto’s most iconic geisha district. This is the time when geishas—known locally as geiko—and maiko (apprentices) begin to appear as they head to evening appointments, offering a rare and authentic glimpse into this refined world of traditional arts and entertainment.

The city has two main districts: Kita (north), a bustling business and shopping area, and Minami (south), known for its entertainment and nightlife. This tour doesn’t include a guide on a daily basis. It is the responsibility of each passenger to self-transfer between hotels and meeting points for activities/excursions and to / from departure points of included transfers.

A number of Japanese cities impose an accommodation tax, which must be paid directly to the hotel.

Breakfast and meals are not included in this tour.

**Accommodation:

Hotel rooms in Japan are usually equipped with one double bed. If you require twin beds, please let us know at the time of booking and we will try our best to accommodate your request, although it cannot always be guaranteed. 

Please note that hotel rooms in Japan are generally smaller than those in other countries. Rooms are often compact, and space may feel limited when an extra bed is added. Please also note that double beds in Japanese hotels are not always the standard Western size and can sometimes be less wide. 

Children ages 2–11 will be provided with an extra bed. This may be a sofa bed or a single bed (approx. 85–196 cm). Triple rooms will also have an extra bed of the same size.

Quad rooms are available for families with children. In most cases, this means four single beds of the same size, though arrangements may vary depending on the hotel.


*Transportation:

You will receive the final documentation of the train transfers 15 days before departure.

The usual departure time is between 9 and 10 AM leaving from Tokyo Station and reaching Kyoto Station around 12PM. Please arrive to Tokyo Station with enough time before departure to locate the exact platform and train you will be using. We can't guarantee specific seat requests (aisle / window, etc). 

For Kyoto to Osaka, the usual departure time is 13:45 and 14:00 leaving from Kyoto Station and reaching Shin Osaka Station (Please note Shin Osaka is different from Osaka station). However, you will receive the confirmed schedule of the train transfers before departure.

Please arrive to Kyoto Station with enough time before departure to locate the exact platform and train you will be using. We can't guarantee specific seat requests (aisle / window, etc). You will receive the confirmed schedule of the train transfers before departure.

Baggage allowance on trains is as follows: one big suitcase per person, with a maximum weight of 30 kg and combined dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 160 cm. Any additional luggage will incur a surcharge.  

Meet & Greet:

The meet and greet will be included for travellers only from 1st of June onwards. For those passengers who book a trip without international flights through Exoticca, the meet & greet service will not be included.

For tours and activities, please ensure to arrive at the meeting points with plenty of time. We recommend being there at least 15 minutes before the starting time. Please note that late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

Remember to download your e-ticket to confirm the times of your flights and to complete online check-in using the airline's website, or directly at the check-in desk at the airport.

Accommodation at the hotels is as indicated. In the event of any changes to accommodation, they will always be of the same or a higher category. The category of hotels is not standardized across all countries in the world. For this reason, the criteria may differ depending on the destination country's own standards.

In the case of adverse weather conditions, for safety reasons or for any other reasons deemed appropriate, the order and duration of the excursions included in the itinerary may be changed or canceled without prior notice.

While on the road, it is highly unlikely that the vehicle will be equipped with wifi or bathroom facilities, though rest stops will be made for long trips. We recommend purchasing a new SIM card at the airport or placing an e-SIM before travel to guarantee internet connection.
