Today, head to Hiroshima by train*, a modern city with a powerful past. Although much of it was destroyed in 1945 by the first atomic bomb ever, Hiroshima has been rebuilt into a place of peace and resilience.
We highly recommend using the 5-rail pass we provide, which allows you to take the tram and ferry at no extra cost to reach Miyajima Island, where wild deer roam freely and the Great Torii of Itsukushima Shrine appears to float during high tide. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing cruise around the island and take in the views from the water while the salty sea breeze washes over you.
