Travel through the madrasas, bazaars, mosques, deserts and palaces that populate the Silk Road, from the desert ruins of Khiva and Bukhara to the great metropolitan cities of Tashkent and Almaty, discovering natural and man-made wonders along the way.
1st Day: UK/Ireland - Night on board
Arrive at your UK/Ireland departure airport, ready to board a flight* to Tashkent. Night on board.
*If either your outbound or inbound flights depart in the early hours (before 4:00 a.m.) you must arrive at the airport the night before the indicated departure day.
2nd Day: Tashkent
Arrive at the international airport of Tashkent. You will go through customs and transfer to the hotel for check-in*. If time permits, take part in our optional city tour of Tashkent**, the country’s capital and cultural center. Overnight stay in Tashkent.
*You will have the option to add early check-in on arrival in the next step of the booking process. To guarantee optional services, we recommend that you add them to your current booking, as they are subject to availability.
*Optional Midday Tashkent Tour: Embark on a city tour of Tashkent to see its most emblematic landmarks including an outside visit of the White Mosque and the TV Tower and stops at Friendship Square, City Metro and the Park of Repressions.

3rd Day: Tashkent
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, set off to visit Tashkent Old Town. In the old part, you will stop by the Earthquake Monument as well as the the Khast Imam Architectural Complex where you will visit the Barak Khan Madrasah, the Kafal Shohi Madrasah, the Tillya Sheikh Mosque and the iconic Museum of Usman's Quran.
Later, the modern part of the city tour includes stops at the Independence and Eternity Square, where you will visit the World War II Memorial, an exterior visit of the Romanov Palace built in 1891, the Opera and Ballet Square and the Amir Temur Square. Return to your hotel and overnight stay in Tashkent.

4th Day: Tashkent - Urgench - Khiva
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to Urgench*. Once you have arrived at your destination you will transfer to Khiva (approx. 30 km), a lost oasis city in Kyzyl-Kum desert. With over 2500 years of history, it is a must-see when visiting Uzbekistan.
From here you will take part in a comprehensive visit of the Architectural Complex Ichan-Kala where you will stop by all its most emblematic buildings, including the Kalta Minor Minaret, the hotel converted Mokhamed Amin-Khan Madrasa, the Kunya Ark Castle and more.
In the afternoon, visit the Bastion of Oq Sheykh Baba for a spectacular sunset view and a prime spot to take stunning photographs thanks to the immaculate panorama of Khiva. Return to your hotel and overnight stay in Khiva.

5th Day: Khiva - Bukhara
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by car to Bukhara (approx. 500 km). En route, you will cross the beautiful Kizil-Kum desert, known for its picturesque crimson-hued sand as well as the historic Amu Darya River. Upon arriving at your destination, check-in to your hotel and overnight stay in Bukhara.

6th Day: Bukhara
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, take part in an excursion to the Ark Citadel and Chor Minor where you will be stopping by its most emblematic sites to immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Uzbekistan. This excursion includes visits to mausoleums such as the Chasmai Ayub, mosques like the Magoki Attori, the oldest one in the city as well as the Ark Citadel, the Lyabi Hauz Architectural Complex, madrasas, domes and galleries.
En route you will visit Ulugbek Madrasah and Abdulaziz-Khan Madrasah from the exterior. Finally, conclude your visit at the iconic Poi-Kalon Architectural Complex. Return to your hotel and overnight stay in Bukhara.

7th Day: Bukhara - Samarkand
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, transfer to Samarkand (approx. 290 km, 5 hours). Upon arrival, take part in a guided tour of this legendary city of Central Asia where you will gaze in awe at its most stunning landmarks, including the Ulugbek Observatory and its museum, the Gur-Emir Mausoleum, containing the tomb of King Tamerlane and his family.
You will end your visit at the iconic Registan Square, one of the most recognizable sites of the city, where you will stop by three great madrasas; the Tilla-Kari Madrasa (XVII century), Ulugbek Madrasa (XV century) and Sher-Dor Madrasa (XVII century). Return to your hotel and overnight stay in Samarkand.

8th Day: Samarkand - Tashkent
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, visit the ‘Meros’ factory of ancient paper production. From here, we continue towards the Shakhi-Zinda Architectural Complex, the Bibi-Khanum Mosque, and finally the Siab Bazaar.
Later in the afternoon, transfer to the station to take the AFROSIAB/SHARQ train* to return to the capital. Upon arriving at Tashkent, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight stay in Tashkent.

9th Day: Tashkent - Almaty
Breakfast at the hotel. It’s time to leave the beautiful Uzbekistan. Transfer to the airport for your flight to the City of Apples: Almaty, the most iconic city in the mountains of Kazakhstan. Arrive at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
You will visit one of the city’s main attractions: Kok-Tobe Park, a garden area with picturesque terraces and groves rising 1130 meters above the city. From here you can admire a panoramic view of the mountains and the city. Overnight stay at Almaty.

10th Day: Almaty
Breakfast at the hotel. You’ll leave the hotel to visit the most important landmarks of Almaty. You’ll visit the Park of 28 Guardians of Panfilov and the Cathedral of the Ascension, made entirely out of wood. Later you will feel the true spirit of the city, its atmosphere, flavors, and colors at the Museum of Musical Instruments and Green Bazaar.
You will then transfer to the Medeo Gorge, the highest skating stadium in the world and take a cable car up to Shymbulak Ski Resort, located in the valley of Trans-Ili Alatau and continue your way up to Talgar Peak.
In the afternoon you’ll be mesmerized by exotic birds of prey like saker falcons and golden eagles and interact with them at a Falcon Show at the Falconry Farm, before returning to the hotel. Overnight stay at Almaty.

*Domestic flights have a baggage allowance of 23 kg and 8 kg in the cabin. For our regular Silk Road program, we will have a block of 12 seats in each departure for the Tashkent-Urgench flight, with blocks available until 46 days before the flight, any reservation beyond this date will be subject to availability at the time of booking.
Like all airlines, Uzbekistan Airways allows up to 3 incorrect letters in the name, that is why we ask you to send us the passenger information as it appears in the passport or a copy of it. In the event that a passenger's name is incorrect, we will have to cancel the ticket with a penalty of 20 USD and issue a new ticket, subject to availability.
**Due to new regulations, train tickets must be nominative, that is why we require the passenger's information as it appears in their passport or copy of it, at least 62 days before the train operation. These tickets are non-refundable (25 USD per person).
In the event that the passengers information is incorrect, we will have to cancel said train ticket with full penalty and rebook a new train ticket subject to availability at the time of rebooking, applying the additional charge for the new ticket.
***There are practically no TRIPLE rooms in Uzbekistan; it is always double rooms (double bed) with an extra bed or sofa, so we do not recommend using them for 3 adults.
Hotels in Uzbekistan are very modest; the quality of their construction is not to the standard of Western hotels. They are not equipped with elevators.
Hotel classification is based on Uzbekistani standards - most of the hotels are 80% private without Western qualification standards.
Copies of passports for train/plane tickets must be presented with the reservation. Passport must be valid for 6 months prior to expiration date.
The itinerary is subject to change at the discretion of the airlines and railroad lines.

While on the road, it is highly unlikely that the vehicle will be equipped with wifi or bathroom facilities, though rest stops will be made for long trips. We recommend purchasing a new SIM card at the airport or placing an e-SIM before travel to guarantee internet connection.
