Where to travel to in November

So, why not escape for a few days and arrive with your batteries charged to face the cold winter? Travelling always puts you in a good mood and makes the routine more bearable.

Agadir, Morocco

The views of Agadir from the sea are fantastic, as you can see the city crossed by the mountains of the Little Atlas, one of the Atlas mountain ranges. The temperature at this time of the year ranges between 11ºC and 22ºC, so it is very pleasant to explore the region. The waters are warm to take a delightful swim on the beach. If you feel like surfing, you will also find very good waves. In Agadir there is an area of the “holiday town” type, in a modern style, with all the facilities such as restaurants, shops, etc.

But it also has older and more genuine areas, with mosques, gardens and street markets. Not far from the city is Tafraoute, a beautiful oasis at the top of the mountain. And of course, if you have some time to take a longer route, you can go to Essaouira or Marrakech and enjoy its architecture and the culture of the locals.

Mexico City

Mexico is one of the best destinations to travel to in November since there the Day of the Dead is celebrated, the most important and representative tradition of the Aztec culture which has lasted until today and has reached much of Latin America. This celebration has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. This day is dedicated to the dead and offerings are made to them. According to the beliefs of the people, on this date, the spirits of the deceased return to spend time with their loved ones. We recommend you go and see Mexico City, where you can enjoy parades, traditional dances, catrina costumes and rituals. And since we are in this incredible country, we cannot miss some interesting points of the city, such as the Plaza de la Constitución, the Pyramids of Teotihuacán or the old town.

Romania

Another place to travel to in November is the town of Bran, where the legend of Dracula resides, reflected in several novels. Here you can enjoy the most genuine spirit of Halloween and enter the famous castle which was the setting of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. This castle is unique throughout Transylvania and is located near Brasov and is a very old monument with great architectural value.

In fact, Vlad III Tepes, Draculea, the historical character who inspired the story, lived in Poenari Castle, a few kilometres from Brasov. But it is believed that “The Impaler” may have spent a couple of days in the dungeons of Bran Castle. On Halloween night a terrifying party takes place which you cannot miss. On the other hand, you can take a lot of trips in the surroundings since the nature and landscapes of Romania are worthy of admiration.

Philadelphia, USA

If you travel to Washington DC or New York, you should take a trip to Philadelphia, one of the oldest cities in the country. In this part of November, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in style with a spectacular ride. Two peculiar film festivals also take place and throughout the month, films of Jewish and Asian cinema are screened. You can also participate in its famous marathon.

As we will also need some fear to experience the spirit of Halloween, we will visit the Eastern State prison, one of the best destinations to travel to in November. There the well-known gangster Al Capone was imprisoned, and during his incarceration, he claimed that he was being haunted by the ghost of the late James Clar, another gangster who died in the St Valentine’s Day massacre. The prison was closed many years ago and remains as it was left. Visiting it is a gloomy experience, much more so if you travel at night. There are many murky stories in this prison, including several escapes. Lovers of terror will enjoy being scared by the sudden appearances of masked, bloodied and disguised characters. Of course Philadelphia has many other attractions such as the largest city hall in the US, Museums of all kinds, markets and gardens.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

If what you want is to escape from the cold, Punta Cana is another of the best destinations to travel to in November. Beaches, snorkelling, white sand, palm trees and mojitos are all you need to forget the world. We recommend you visit different beaches, as well as the islands of Saona and Santa Catalina.
